Bird Watching 2

Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park

"Bird Watching 2" part of my continuing Bird Watching Series was installed at Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, Brooklyn, NY, Aug. 2 - Sept. 6. 1997. This installation was part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition's annual sculpture show in this riverfront public park. I installed 66 birds along the boardwalk; the birds represented various species found in New York state. My installation was mentioned by New York Times art critic Roberta Smith when she reviewed the City's summer sculpture shows. She said my piece was one of "the only works to survive the spectacle of the bridges." My birds proved so popular with park visitors and staff that I was asked to re-install some of the birds in summer of 1998.
