Selected Wall Works and Suspended Sculptures

Rainbow Flag, 1989, 6' x 8', painted handmade paper and string.

This wall-mounted piece is part of a series of works using the American flag image. Other works in the "flag"series are available. In all of the wall works the negative spaces created by the strings joining the cut out paper shapes are an important part of the piece.

Pyramid Shelter; 1990; 8' x 6' x 6'; handmade paper, string, acrylic paint.

"Pyramid Shelter" is a paper tent which the viewer can enter. The warm colors on the inside are very different from the outside. The idea for this shelter came from thinking about hideouts made by children out of tablecloths and blankets. This photo shows the shelter installed at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Museum of Art in Utica, NY, for the Biennial exhibition of Central New York Artists in 1993.

Target Seats; 1991; 4' x 8' x 2'; handmade paper, string, acrylic paints

"Target Seats" is a suspended sculpture playing with the idea of targets and toilet seats. It was included in the 1993 Biennial Exhibition of Central New York Artists at Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Museum of Art, Utica, NY. This work has also been in many other exhibitions.
